When most Pinoys are faced with the sudden craving for spicy korean slaw, they frequent places like Kaya; the stingier ones may even just settle for a store bought bottle of kimchi. However, whenever I crave for bibmipap, bulgolgi, chap chae or whatever other tantalizing korean grub you can name, I go where the koreans are plenty… Korea - Town Ortigas.
Kimpop Chung Guk or Kimpop Heavean, is one of my favorite korean restaurants. It is located in Pasig towards Escriva Drive (near the korean grocery). This hole in the wall restaurant specializes in traditional korean dumplings, noodles, and snacks. My favorites include their Bibimpap (stone rice bowl), beef dumplings, Tteokbokki (grilled rice cakes in spicy sauce), and of course their Kimpop (hand-rolled korean sushi).

Within the vicinity is another restaurant called 6 Days. The ambiance of the restaurant makes it the perfect date place. It’s homey and very cutesy. It’s relatively pricier than Kimpap Chung Guk, but they serve bigger servings and offer a higher variety of menu items.

Breakfast Today: Homemade Strawberry Pancakes
I finally decided to start a food blog which I will be updating with good eats around Manila and experimental cooking that I do in my spare time. So, I start this first post off with breakfast - the most important meal of the day. It is important to note that I am by no means an expert cook - I don’t fair well with the pressures of the professional kitchen (as proven by the nightmare that was CA101 class). However, I do like the calm of being in a quiet home setting, where I’m free to create various experiments by mixing and matching different ingredients.
